Make and Break Apart Pattern Block Designs
Lesson Purpose
The purpose of this lesson is for students to compose and decompose
numbers up to 9 in more than 1 way.
Lesson Narrative
In a previous unit, students made designs with pattern blocks and counted
how many of each pattern block they used. In this lesson, students make and share a design with
the same total number of pattern blocks but different numbers of individual pattern blocks.
